Events

Wolverhampton Photographic Society hold a number of events during the year which allow the the general public to view members work. These events are normally held in local venues such as public libraries and the Civic Centre and quite often have a local theme.

Our sincere thanks go to those who spend the time and trouble to organise and stage these exhibitions, namely: Gerald Hanrahan, John Hodson, Roy Hawthorne and Jon George.

Outings / Walks

Throughout the year we have a number of official Society outings. These vary between outings specifically for photography, such as birds of prey centres, to short walks, which give us time to get some gentle exercise and have a chat. The events are normally well attended and details of the forthcoming outings can be found from the link above. Thanks to Len and Carol Doughty and Jeff and Jenny Wood who organise many of these events for us. The image below is from our outing to Ellesmere where we took a walk around the meres and canal - and found a fantastic field of poppies!

However I think that the 6 mile walk may have been a bit strenuous for some of our "more experienced" members:

It looks like Trevors backpack (which I understand mainly contained his lunch) may have been a tad over-loaded. - Thanks to Alan Lawrence ARPS for both images

Whilst this picture may not be photographic work of art (sorry about that Alan..) we hope it conveys some of the camaraderie and humour we have within the Society. Always remember the old saying "All work and no play makes Johnny a dull boy".

See some more of our images from recent outings by going to our galleries page.

As a point of interest we have an annually presented trophy for the best print or slide taken on an official Wolverhampton Photographic Society outing.
