Percy Stallard holds the hand of film star Jean Kent with Ernie Clements, No. 2 on the right. The picture was taken in London before the start of the second stage of the 1945 Brighton to Glasow race. In fact, it was Stallards' vision in promoting the Llangollen to Wolverhampton race three years earlier which proved the feasibility of six day races in Britian. Without him there would not be a Pru-Tour, Kellogs, Milk Race or Tour of Britain. Reproduction courtesy of Roy Hawthorne and Sutton Publishing |
