Digital Black and White

A lot has been said in the Society recently about the best method of achieving a good digital B/W image without a slight colour cast. One method is to go out and buy a second printer solely for producing B/W for which you will also have to buy special dedicated B/W inks. (Not cheap dear members, not cheap). But before you reach for your wallet and take such a drastic step you might like to try this idea.

a) Convert your image to LAB colour and go into the Channels Palette.

b) Click on the Lightness Channel and then change the mode to Greyscale.

c) Apply a slight adjustment to the exposure in levels.

d) Print out your image at 2800 DPI (or the highest you can go) on inexpensive Epson “105 gsm” Photo paper.

Try it - you should like it!
